Box Car Trailer (Model 28001)

Model 28001 is a 16 ft x 6 ft 6 car carrier with 10 inch high sides, a 3500 kg ATM and a 5-6 mm thick chassis - the load-and-carry version of our car trailer, for operators who need to move vehicles and also carry loose material in the same trailer.

Where a pure car carrier is a flat deck with tie-downs, this trailer is a box car carrier: full checker-plate body with 10 inch high sides and front and rear tailgates, so it can be loaded with a vehicle on its wheels or with a part-load of sand, stone, paving or equipment around the vehicle. That flexibility is what makes it attractive to shops, farms and contractors that cannot justify two trailers.

The chassis is the heavy specification: 5-6 mm thick steel, heavy-duty rocker roller suspension, 50 mm square axles and a reinforced 1 500 mm drawbar. Braking is four-wheel electric with an electrical break-away unit, which at 3 500 kg ATM with a vehicle aboard is not an upgrade but a requirement. New 14 inch Sunraysia-style wheels with new light-truck tyres, a spare wheel and a jockey wheel are included.

Loading works the same way as the rest of the range: two 7 ft ramps slide under the deck, the front stop bar is removable to use the full deck, the winch post on the drawbar takes a hand or electric winch, and tie-down points are positioned around the deck for four-wheel lashing. Side clearance markers and 12 V LED lighting keep the combination visible with a load on.

Typical users are used-car traders, farmers and smallholders moving vehicles and feed, workshops collecting customer cars, and operators who want one trailer that does vehicle transport and general haulage.
