Car Trailer (Model 48025)

Model 48025 is a 16 ft x 6 ft 6 beavertail car carrier trailer with a 2000 kg ATM: a checker-plate deck with a lowered rear section, a pair of 7 ft slide-under ramps, a winch post on the drawbar and tie-down points positioned for four-wheel lashing. It is the trailer for moving cars, bakkies, quads, jet skis and non-running projects on a normal bakkie's tow bar.

The beavertail deck is the detail that makes loading work. The rear of the deck steps down, so the ramp angle is shallower than on a flat deck at the same height - the difference between a low-slung car clearing the ramps and its bumper or sump grounding on the way up. Ramps store under the deck on slides, so they travel with the trailer and are not left behind at a yard.

Once the vehicle is up, the removable front stop bar takes the load of the front wheels, and the winch post on the drawbar lets you pull a non-running car onto the trailer with a hand or electric winch rather than pushing it. Tie-down rails run along both sides into the guards, with four heavy-duty hanger tie-down points on the sides positioned for axle straps and wheel chocks - the correct way to secure a car on a trailer, rather than strapping it down by the suspension.

Running gear is a 2000 kg ATM tandem set on 45 mm square axles with hydraulic brakes on the front axle, slipper suspension and a reinforced 1 500 mm drawbar. New 14 inch Sunraysia-style wheels with new light-truck tyres carry the load, and 12 V LED lighting with side clearance markers keeps the trailer visible with a car aboard. A spare wheel and 8 inch jockey wheel are included.

Typical use is vehicle dealership transfers, private car and project moves, quad and side-by-side transport, boat and jet ski haulage, and recovery or salvage work.
