Galvanised Plant Trailer (Model 88071)

Model 88071 is an 11x5 tandem deluxe heavy-duty plant trailer with a 3200 kg ATM and a full hot-dip galvanised finish - built in South Africa and galvanised inside and out, so the frame is protected where paint cannot reach.

The extra length is the point of this model. At 11 ft, the deck takes a machine plus attachments, or two smaller machines, or a machine and a load of materials in one trip. Sides stand 12 inches high with a 100 mm folder lip, which adds strength to the panel edge and gives straps something to bite on, and the front drops down so long implements can overhang.

Loading is handled by a 5 ft drop-down grid-mesh ramp set, assisted by two drop-down stabiliser legs at the rear that keep the trailer level while a machine is on the ramps. There are corner side steps into the guards for getting on and off the deck, tie-down rails all round, and four additional tie-down points - one in each corner - positioned for chains and binders rather than rope.

Running gear is commercial heavy-duty throughout: 50 mm square axles on heavy-duty rocker roller suspension, four-wheel electric brakes with an electrical break-away safe unit, a reinforced 1 800 mm drawbar, and new 14 inch Sunraysia wheels with new light-truck tyres. A spare wheel and jockey wheel are included, and the lighting is 12 V LED.

Galvanising is what makes this model last in plant work: machines arrive wet and muddy, the deck gets scraped by tracks and buckets, and the trailer tends to live outdoors. A galvanised chassis under a galvanised checker-plate body is the cheapest way to still have a straight, rust-free trailer at resale time.
