Mobile Digger Trailer (Model 73003)

Model 73003 is a heavy-duty 8x5 digger trailer rated for around 3 tonnes of machine: a fully galvanised chassis with a 2.5 mm galvanised checker-plate floor, two galvanised heavy-duty ramps, 12 inch electric brakes on four wheels and a breakaway system. It is built for moving mini excavators and diggers to and from sites behind a bakkie, day after day.

Galvanising is the correct finish for a machine trailer. Diggers come off site covered in wet clay, mud and stone, and the trailer is usually parked outside with that load of dirt sitting on the deck. A galvanised chassis and coated deck resist the corrosion that a painted trailer develops under exactly those conditions, and the deck resists the scraping that tracks and buckets do when a machine is driven up it.

The trailer carries a 2.5 mm galvanised checker-plate floor over an all-galvanised chassis, with a tie-down point set positioned for chain and binder work, a hitch and handbrake, roller rocker suspension and a free-swinging jockey wheel. Two galvanised heavy-duty ramps are included and stow on the trailer for travel, and the lighting package runs 12 V LEDs with two tail lamps and a number plate lamp.

Dimensions are sized around real machines: an inner box of 2 400 mm x 4 530 mm, about 2 040 mm wide, giving enough deck length to carry a small digger with its boom folded, and enough width to load without needing perfect alignment every time. The trailer rides on five 195/R15 tyres, and the brake set is 12 inch electric with a breakaway controller - the configuration you want on a trailer that carries a machine with a high centre of gravity.

Typical users are plant hire operators, small civil contractors, landscapers, farms and drainage contractors who move a machine several times a week and need a trailer that fits the machine rather than a compromise.
