Galvanised Tipper Trailer (Model 10001)

Model 10001 is an 8x5 tandem-axle galvanised tipper with a 2800 kg ATM: a hot-dip galvanised chassis and body, four-wheel electric brakes, a hydraulic tipping ram and a checker-plate box that gets tipped, not shovelled.

Galvanising is the standout feature. Hot-dip galvanised steel is coated inside and out, including the sections you cannot repaint once the trailer is assembled, which makes this the model for wet, corrosive work - manure, fertiliser, salt-treated sand, wet compost, coastal sites. A painted tipper in those conditions starts rusting from the inside of the frame outwards within a season; a galvanised one generally does not.

The body carries 12 inch high checked sides with drop-down front and rear tailgates, tie-down rails around the trailer and corner side steps built into the guards. The hydraulic ram is powered by a 12 V motor, battery and cable remote housed in a drawbar-mounted toolbox, so the trailer tips itself without any external hydraulics. A 1 600 mm drawbar gives it stable tracking with the box raised or loaded.

Running gear matches the duty: 50 mm square axles on rocker roller suspension, four-wheel electric brakes with an electrical breakaway unit, new 14 inch Sunraysia wheels with new light-truck tyres, a spare wheel and a free 8 inch jockey wheel.

The result is a compact trailer that does the job of a small tipper truck in gardens, smallholdings, building sites, estates and municipal work - and does it while towing behind an ordinary bakkie. It is also the trailer most commonly chosen by buyers who know they will keep it outdoors for years.
