Tandem Axle Box Trailer (Model 48882)

Model 48882 is the largest box trailer in the range: a 9x6 tandem-axle heavy-duty unit with 340 mm high sides, a 2000 kg ATM, hydraulic brakes and a pair of 7 ft slide-out checker-plate ramps stored under the floor. It is the trailer for operations that move a lot of bulky cargo per trip and cannot afford a second run.

The extra length over an 8x5 box is not cosmetic. It is the difference between carrying a full palletised load plus hand-loaded items and leaving half of it behind - and it is the size most commonly used for furniture removal runs, market and event logistics, building material delivery and agricultural transport. The body is fully checker plate, with drop-down front and rear tailgates, full side steps and straight tie-down rails all round.

The slide-out ramps are stored under the trailer floor and pull out when needed, so no separate ramp set has to be loaded, booked, or lost. That makes the trailer practical for wheeled equipment - lawnmowers, quads, compactors, trolleys, drum-mounted pumps - without permanently fitting a ramp that eats into the load space.

Running gear is a braked tandem axle on slipper suspension with 45 mm square axles, a reinforced 1500 mm drawbar, and new 14 inch Sunraysia wheels with new light-truck tyres. Hydraulic brakes on the front axle with a handbrake give you real stopping power with 2000 kg of cargo behind you, which is the safety argument for a braked trailer of this size rather than the unbraked 750 kg boxes that cost less and stop far worse.

It ships with a spare wheel, an 8 inch jockey wheel, 12 V LED lighting and a 7-pin plug, and it can be specified with electric brakes, a breakaway unit, a drawbar toolbox and branded signwriting before dispatch.
